How to play WoW at Worl, etc..
I’ve been meaning to write a post about some of the random keywords people have used to find my blog. Many of which aren’t addressed. So, I here I am addressing them.
“what level do you have to be to tame skoll”
Level 80
“any benefit to taming rare pets”
Yeah, they’re cool looking! What kind of hunter would have to ask this question anyways??
“at what age is it nerdy to play wow”
Depends on who you talk to, some would say it is always too nerdy to play WoW, but in my humble opinion you are never too old to be too nerdy. Oh wait, did that come out right? I actually think wow is a geeky thing, not a nerdy thing.
“can $30 internet handle world of warcraft”
When I started playing I was on a dial-up. So, it’s possible to play with slow internet, but you’re lag will be pretty bad. I don’t suggest it. Go buy yourself a WiFi card and play on your neighbor’s internet.
“can my kids use the same world of warcraft account as me?”
If you don’t ever want to play with your kid, yes. If you want to play alongside him, then no. Of course you’d then need another computer as well.
Mostly you’ll have to fight for game time, but you’re the parent, you can kick them off.
“can’t play wow at worl, how can i pas the restrictions”
Yes, Worl restrictions can be quite severe. You’ll have to jail break your worl in order to add a proxy WoW server in order to be able to bypass all of the restrictions.
“how many pets can a hunter have”
5
“how long will it take me to get to level 80 from level 40?”
However long you would like, that depends on how much you’d like to neglect real life, but its takes me way too long to do that kind of leveling.
“how to change your personal cultural bias”
Identify, examine, educate yourself, follow through. I don’t know if that really fits the scope of this blog.
“how to manage wow and real life”
Prioritize
“how to teach a child to play wow”
Throw them at a computer and let them have at it.
“i want to get my mom to play wow, what should she play as?”
A hunter
“i was in the snow for long time got fever”
Get out of the snow then.
“i wiped the raid hunter pet aggressive”
Take your pet off of aggressive /facepalm.
“ways death knights can make money”
The same way any other class makes money.
“what age kid plays mafia wars”
This depends if you are taking about the facebook app or real life mafia wars.
“what is rp & rl on twitter”
Well, for me rp=roleplay rl=real life, but I don’t know what other people are doing.
“where are the best place in nothend for hunters pets”
Well, I assume you meant northrend. And you’d be surprised to find animals to tame in every area. No really, it’s true. Depends on the pet you want.
“why teenagers shouldnt play wow”
Well, I don’t see why not, unless they are letting their play time destroy their grades. I say you should teach balance and moderation instead of complete abstinence. Now I’m referring to WoW and not other things teenagers do. Keep that in mind.
“why can’t i buy hourly game time in wow”
No, but sometimes I wish you could, cause it kills me that I pay the same amount for my 8 hours a week as my brother-in-law does for his 30+ hours. You can in Asia though.
“will expanded stables be released before cataclysm?”
I don’t think so.
So, there you have it, some of the random questions I’ve gotten in the last month. Of course since these were google searches, they probably just went to another website that did have the answers. But whatever.
Patch 3.3.3
So, what else do we WoW bloggers have to do on patch day when the servers are down? Of course we talk about… the patch. So, patch 3.3.3 actually has a lot of stuff to it, and you’ve probably already read, memorized, changed your macros, changed your class, yada yada yada. But I’m going to post it anyway. Oh, by the way this doesn’t have the entire 3.3.3 patch notes, I tend to skip the classes that I’m not playing. Actually, up to this point I’d only comment on Hunters and Death Knights, but I’ve been playing my druid more (even if she’s only level 38). So, I’ve added the druid changes as well (even though at this point I won’t have a clue as to what the heck they mean). For the full patch 3.3.3 notes go to blizz’s website. Now, my list is getting shorter because of technical issues. I was using Word format, but it was eating my text, so we’re going to do something different, but we’re running out of time.
Classes: General
Several raid buffs have had their ranges increased to 100 yards, up from 45 yards, to prevent select buffs from repeatedly getting applied and removed during highly mobile encounters. Some buffs, such as paladin auras, totems, shouts and Blood Pact are intentionally meant to have shorter ranges and remain unchanged.
Seems like the buffs we would have liked to have increased their ranged didn’t.
Hunters
Talents
- Beast Mastery
Ferocious Inspiration: This ability is now an aura and provides 1/2/3% damage to all party or raid members within 100 yards and boosts the damage of Steady Shot by 3/6/9%
- Pet Talents
Heart of the Phoenix: Cooldown reduced to 8 minutes, down from 10 minutes.
I’ve already typed a big long paragraph on this, and then it was eaten by bad Word formatting. I’m too impatient to try again. Lets just say, yay for BM!
Death Knights
Icy Touch: This ability now causes a very high amount of threat while the death knight is in Frost Presence.
Chains of Ice: The ability now innately applies Frost Fever to a target.
Rune of Razorice: Now stacks 5 stacks of 2% Frost Vulnerability instead of 10 stacks of 1% Frost Vulnerability. Proc chance changed to 100%.
Talents
Blood
- Abomination’s Might: This effect is now passive instead of being a proc on certain strikes. Rank 1 is 5% attack power and Rank 2 is 10% attack power. The self strength buff remains unchanged.
- Will of the Necropolis: There is no longer a cooldown on the frequency at which this talent can be activated. In addition, this ability can now also be triggered by damage which deals less than 5% of your health.
Frost
- Endless Winter: No longer causes Frost Fever to be applied by Chains of Ice, but instead grants 2/4% strength.
- Icy Talons: The personal haste benefit provided by this talent is no longer exclusive with other sources of melee haste. This will allow death knights to always swing 4/8/12/16/20% faster when Frost Fever is applied. Windfury Totem and the party/raid component of Improved Icy Talons still do not stack.
- Improved Icy Talons: This effect is now passive instead of being a proc. The self haste buff remains unchanged.
- Nerves of Cold Steel: Now increases off-hand damage by 8/16/25%, up from 5/10/15%.
- Unbreakable Armor: The amount of strength granted is now 20%, up from 10%.
Unholy
- Scourge Strike: Now deals 70% weapon damage, plus 12% of physical damage done as shadow damage for each of the death knight’s diseases on the target. The net result should be larger strikes with no diseases present, while maximum damage with all diseases applied to the target should stay the same.
- Unholy Blight: In addition to its previous effects, this talent now also prevents diseases from being dispelled from victims afflicted by Unholy Blight.
I’m still trying to learn the DK class. I’m now dual speced as an unholy DPSer and a Frost tank. I know frost isn’t thee best tanking spec, but for what I want to do its pretty awesome. I’m only tanking 5 mans at this point, and I’m only doing that with my friends and family until I’m comfortable. In LFG I’m playing dps. My gear still sucks pretty bad at this point.
Druids
Nature’s Grasp: Now has 3 charges, up from 1.
Talents
Balance
- Starfall: The damage done by this spell has been significantly increased.
- Typhoon: Mana cost reduced to 25%, down from 32%.
Feral Combat
- Mangle: The debuff from this talent now lasts 60 seconds, up from 12 seconds.
I honestly don’t know what any of this means yet. I know I like my feral kitty druid. I love sneaking up on mobs and pouncing. But past that at this point I’m clueless.
I was going to add a lot more, but I was having some issues and I’m running out of time. I really should have started getting ready to go to work like 3 minutes ago. There are several things they are doing with this patch that will make my life so much easier. I love the fact that holiday bosses are now being added to the dungeon finder. I’ll actually do those bosses daily now, that and the summoning criteria has gone down. And you can’t do it more than once a day anyways, so that will make my life easier on holidays.
Engineering pets are no longer bind on pick up, that’s nice and annoying. I like my engineering profession, I don’t want to share it, but I’m not a goblin engineer, and I want the little bomb pet. So, what do you do?
Its nice to see dungeon finder get a little more refined. I always hated it when someone was voting to boot a player and I had no idea why. Overall they’re making it a little cleaner.
Seems like a lot of features that blizzard only recently added are being cleaned up, like the dungeon finder and the quest tracker and such. Plus we’re getting nifty random battlegrounds, and such. Should be fun to play with tonight. What I still want to know is …. where is my moose?? /shakes fist at ghostcrawler.
Depends on my Mood
It’s funny what becomes fun for you in this game, and if you haven’t noticed, what’s fun today may quickly change from week to week. For me, it seems to change day to day. It all depends on my mood. Lately (this week at least) what’s been fun for me has been leveling my DK’s jewel crafting. I know. What gives??
How could that possibly be a rip roaring good time? I don’t know. I just honestly don’t know. I’m seeking treatment as we speak.
I’ve been trying to keep the cost down as I level the DK’s jewel crafting, mostly because I don’t really have hardly anything in the way of gold. So, no running to buy gems and such at the AH for me. I haven’t much been into farming for gold lately (even though I’m okay with farming to level JC, yeah I don’t know what my problem is either). And I’ve been very lazy about putting stuff on the auction house. It all goes in the bank, as a result my poor bank alt has no bag space left even though he has all of his bag slots in the bank purchased, and he’s the guild master of a bank alt guild with 5 bank tabs. I’m notorious for being a pack rat. I contemplated setting up a second guild bank. Yes, I’m just that crazy.
So, I’ve been running around collecting old world ore, prospecting ore left and right, hoping for Azerothian Diamonds and such. I’ve finally broken 300 so it should get easier now (especially since I have an epic flying mount and I’m Unholy spec, I couldn’t resist getting the mount speed bonus (20%) from the talent tree.
I do have to say, Un’Goro Crater is the place to farm thorium (especially in the morning). At one point yesterday, I noticed that my mines had disappeared after half an hour of farming. That was until I found the culprit, a blood elf. I won’t say what happened next, but those of you on PvP servers probably could take a guess. Let’s just say, I didn’t have any more problems after that. But that’s all beside the point.
So, at the moment while others are running randoms, battlegrounds, or raids; I’m leveling professions and just having the time of my life. Woot! Okay I don’t know if I’m exactly having the time of my life, but it’s what I want to do now. But it’ll be short lived. It can’t last forever, well, I guess with all of my alts it could.
No Tues Maintenance will be the death of Me
Okay, so I’ll be frankly honest with you all. If we don’t have Tuesday maintenance server down time, I don’t and won’t post as much for that week. I love writing on here, but I also love playing the game. I use that down time on Tuesday mornings to write a little something something about the game. Otherwise, I’m playing. I gives me something to do related to the game at least you know.
Man, there probably should be more down time (even though I would be very upset about it). I might get more accomplished with my life. dishes, feeding the dog (wait, I don’t have a dog), exercising (well, I do exercise, but it takes great motivation, that of which has been failing me lately), etc. I don’t know…
So, I went raiding on Tuesday with my guild thinking I would be the bomb with my hunter, much better geared than ever before. Or at least I thought I’d do better, but no. My dps was pathetic, maybe worse. I know part of the problem is (as mentioned before) my focus in the game. I’m not super focused on getting my dps up to uber levels with my hunter. My younger brother has been bugging me about it. He wants me to go sit in front of the target dummies and practice my shot rotation and such. I will eventually but I can’t get myself to do it, not when there is so much else to do!! Of course part of the problem was also the fact that I was super tired and I kept dozing off. Not very good for dps when you just sit there like a bump on a log.
Besides lack of sleep, the main thing that has gotten me bogged down lately are holiday achievements. I’ve decided, now that Eliahna (my DK) is level 80, I want to get her started on the road to a pretty 310% speed violet protodrake as well. And… I still have holidays to do on my hunter. So, I have double duty when it comes to this. At least we are on really easy holidays even if they require a bit of work. I just need to drag my sorry butt to all the elders all over the greater Azeroth. No PvP achievements at all in these holidays so we’re doing good. I’m dreading the up and coming Children’s week holiday. I love the holiday, but I don’t know if I’ll be able to get all of those battleground achievements. I probably should start practicing now, on my hunter, my dk, and my wife’s mage.
So, I should be playing randoms to get frost emblems; instead, I’m running around trying to complete holiday achievements. Thus neither of my end level characters are improving their abilities.
Even if the holiday was over though, I’d probably just be running around on alts or something. I can’t stay focused very well. (Which is why I’m writing the post right now instead of working like I should. )
So, I want to dual spec my deathknight to be a frost dual wielding tank for 5 man instances with family and guildies, and a unholy dps for 5 man pugs and farming. I’ve been tanking all of these really difficult instances, like the underbog, and hellfire peninsula instances. Well, okay, maybe not quite so difficult, but its been fun to play with my brother and his wife, even if my character isn’t yet getting anything out of it.
I really want to also level my kitty druid. Right now she’s sitting at level 36, and she’s been ignored due to holiday stuffs and whatnot. But I really would like to get her to level 80 before the expansion comes out as well.
Rutabaga
Sorry, I’m jumping all over the place on this post today. Randomness at its best, I guess that’s how my brain works and when you get a quick post about what’s on my mind, that’s what you get. Sorry about that.
So, I’ve been ignoring my druid, and I really would like to get back to my other Deathknights (on Duratan US and Earthen Ring US). I’m still trying to work up their professions, which seems like its taking … forever! Especially when one of them have a crafting profession. I’m really guilty about putting those off forever, but not this time, we’re going to level them before we enter the outlands with these characters by golly.
Man, it seems like I had a lot of other things to say. Maybe I need to think on it for a moment.
Back from Vegas
Just thought I’d write a quick note. We just got back from Las Vegas a couple of days ago, its not the same when you go with little children, you don’t spend as much time at the strip. But it was nice to get away.
I don’t want to write too much. I’m in the middle of moving to a new hosting and we’re using a backup of the blog previous to now. So, no new posts will be moved over. So, we’re kind of in limbo right now.
I finally tried the LFG dungeon finder. It was smooth and very DK heavy (which was fine since I brought my DK for the party).
Oh, and I’ve been trying to catch up on podcasts. I only have like 20 podcasts that I download on a regular basis. I’m trying out some new hunter podcasts. There are a ton of them out there. I’ll have to put some reviews on here for them.
I have some great ideas for the 2010 year. It’ll be a fun year. Stick around.
Holiday Break
Well, I’m taking a short break from WoW (ha! like a week or so). I’m going to be out of town till the new year, should be interesting. Any road trip with 3 children under the age of 5 is interesting. Luckily we’ll have grandparents with us so we’ll have some extra hands. I’m going with my in-laws which some people would think would be horrible, but I actually prefer my in-laws to my own family. They’re much more sane. And we would never do a trip on our own at this point. It just wouldn’t be all that fun. Well, I guess we would do a trip to the park.
/sigh
I’m also in the process of changing hosting, so I’m going to limit my postings right now till the change takes place (mostly because we’ve already got a back up so anything I write before the move will disappear – including this posts).
Just to let you know what I’ve been doing in game (so I can count this as a WoW blog post). I’ve been leveling my DK lately, so far she’s all the way up to 77. And no, I haven’t tried the LFG tool yet, I was going to try this morning, but I was having connection issues. So, some other time, perhaps it’ll be my new year resolution or something.
Anyway, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and all that jazz. See ya next year.
Bears in Sidecars and Druids Alts
How does a polar bear fit into a the sidecar of the motorcycle??? You got me. I saw these rascals taking advantage of a glitch, running around with a bear in the side seat. Kind of amusing.
So, I’ve decided to level an alt after all. I have a level 26 druid. I just got her a piece of heirloom gear with my champion seals and now that’s what I’m working on. I’ve been getting a little burned out on doing just dailies every day and just the occasional raid.
I’m finding my druid (my wife’s druid actually) to be pretty fun to play. I really like cat form. I’ve not really played the rogue class much, so its fun lurking about. I think it would be neat if they gave druids a glyph or something that made it so they could change their cat/bear/tree skin, but that’s besides the point. I’ll have to start reading more druid blogs if I keep this up.
Goldsellers get Creative

I went into Stormwind the other day and I saw this creative advertising. Yes, these guys managed to kill off people in such a way as to spell out their webpage. Don’t bother going to the website, I looked it up in google, their just a WoW gold selling/ power leveling service. But at least they’re starting to get creative with their advertising. Much better than having some gnome yelling out spam in Ironforge.
random google questions
Okay, I was reading some of the random google searches that led random people to my blog. Some of the questions that were asked I didn’t technically answer, so I will try here.
Is furious Howl Raid wide?
I believe so, but it doesn’t stack with some of the other Attack Power buffs out there, might be useful with 10 man raids, but not so much with 25 man raids.
I stand corrected, that’s how well, I stay on top of things. Howl Raid is not raid wide, but it does stack with Blessing of Might and Battleshout, making it the top dps pet for SV and MS for the moment being at any rate. (thanks Klinderas).
PvP vs PvE?
Lots of people searching look this up. I personally like PvE more and love controlled PvP in Battle Grounds and Arena, but I hate PvP when I’m trying to mine or and I get someone stealing my mines, (/shakes fists and those jerks). So, yeah, I’m not too found of random world PvP when I’m trying to do something else. But world PvP can be pretty cool when you pawn someone, or when you just want to vent some steam out. Once I was so pissed that my priest alt was constantly getting ganked, that I came back with my hunter to bring my rage down on a stupid rogue. Couldn’t find him (stupid stealth) so I ended up taking my frustration out on a horde town killing every NPC (including the flight path guy). Wow, holy tangent.
If I dismiss my pet will I lose it?
No, you will not lose your pet this way; however, if you abandon your pet you will most definitely lose it (you’ll have to right click on your pet for this option). But please at least leave your pet somewhere where s/he can find ample animals to hunt. I left my mountain lion in the hills of dark shore, where you might find ShereKahn hunting those ugly turkey striders.
Where is Sholvar Basin?
In northrend.
Where to get cold weather flying training?
Dalaran, right there next to the flight path.
Durtar mickey mouse
What?
Taming a Druid?
I would like to just like every other hunter out there. Hopefully someday they’ll make that adjustment in some future patch. /crosses fingers.
What is the current shot macro/rotation for hunters in patch 3.1?
lol, I have to look that up myself and bring that there. I’ll have to make a post about that soon.
WoW leveller macro?
What? Hm, how about quest helper add on, that would be what you want.
How do I get an Albino drake?
You need to get the 50 mount achievement. Then you’ll be half way to getting your 100 mount achievement. Woot! Then you could get a Dragonhawk mount! I want one so bad, so far I have 64 mounts, still only have 36 mounts to go /sigh. Mounts are easy to get, but expensive. They usually require a lot of reputation too. Here is a website where you can keep track of your mounts (if you are into that), this is my collection.
Hopefully this helps somebody out there out. I’m almost done with my vacation. So I may actually be adding pictures to my posts soon, wouldn’t that be nice for a change.
I’ve been tagged – 6th Screenshot
So, I got tagged by @Brigwyn who writes a lovely blog entitled The Hunting Lodge. I have to put a screen shot here, but not just any screen shot. No, it has to be much more random than that. You have to look through your old screen shots and pull out the 6th screen shots.
Now I’ve gone through a few computers, well, not a bunch. But when looking through this computer this is what I found as the 6th screen shot:

Here we are showing off our Vampire Batlings that we got in during Halloween. I think the shaman is my cousin, I’m not sure what we were doing with him. This was just a little bit before WotLK came out (obviously) and we were working on leveling Kydra as quickly as we could. We finally got to the point where our mains were the same level, as it should be. Oh, and I had only recently tamed my gorilla, Mungula. So, this was after 3.0.
However, I realized that maybe I should look at my older computer (more authentic, more vintage). So, this was the screen shot on my older computer:
Whoa, this is a random pic, back from August 2007. Still working on leveling my hunter to 70. I was in the middle of Nagrand (can’t you tell), and I’m apparently floating in the middle of a ravine. The computer was being stupid, you couldn’t see the bridge I was standing on. So, what does any decent WoW player do when something weird happens? We take a screen shot, so there you go.
Oh, who should I tag????… (1 day later) Couldn’t make up my mind, but here goes: I’m tagging Kate & Johnathon at Tastes Like Lint and GamingDiva at … GamingDiva.
Happy hunting.
